And soon enough you'll hear
The heartbeat of a newborn
Beating fast and clear
Innocent and curious
A newborn wants to know
The big world that surrounds it
And who is friend or foe
A newborn calf is precious
Just like a newborn pet
It needs its mother with it
To love and to protect
So why do you forget this
When you buy meat and cheese?
A calf is not a cat or dog
But it deserves to breathe
A newborn needs much space to grow
Regardless of what species
A newborn needs to have good health
Not cages caked with feces
A calf that's torn from its mother
Two short days after birth
A calf that's born just to be killed
For more veal to be served
No animal deserves to have
A life of so much pain
When it causes so much disease
You have nothing to gain
So please make the connection
Every time you eat a steak
It may be your own choice
But is it your own life to take?

Silence was at my doorstep.
Rain fell from the storms of my eyes

The gentle spring
that bloomed inside my chest

and flourish
and replace the winter
whose frost had held tightly
onto my heart.
Silence was welcome.

Sunlight was here to warm

I also read the comments and it never ceases to amaze me how people react not only to a different viewpoint but to those who show compassion and empathy and refuse to contribute to the suffering of other living and feeling beings.
To those who are so quick to accuse someone of spreading propaganda, ask yourselves why you are more willing to believe the claims of multi-billion dollar corporations, such as the meat and dairy industry. Do your own research! If you're unwilling to adjust your lifestyle out of compassion or for the environment, then do it for your own health. There are many independently-funded peer-reviewed scientific publications, articles and documentaries. Do not exclusively rely on corporation funded studies or the media if you're looking for truthful and unbiased information.
Ask yourselves also, does nearly 60 BILLION animals worldwide (not including billions of fish and other sea creatures) being slaughtered every year -seem normal to you?
Maybe Morpheus was right after all?
